STONE UPON STONE
Reading Architecture
Eshkolot’s Festival of Jewish Texts and Ideas
3-6 December 2015
#eshkofest

CONCEPT

The aim of the Festival is to expand the practice of “slow reading” inspired by traditional Jewish textual study methods (e.g. midrash) to classical works of architecture. Architecture is a means of communication and a “spatial text”, which presuppose interpretation and commentary. Architects and art historians from Russia and Israel offer their “readings” of architectural monuments ranging from ancient Near East to contemporary Berlin.
